Hi all. I drive a '86 FJ60. Has anyone replaced the stock driver and passenger seats with seats from a different make/model vehicle? If so, what year, make and model did you use. Were you able to bolt directly into the floor mounts or did you have to fabricate custom mounts?

Check the 60 series section

Philos started a thread on putting Volvo S70 seats in his Cruiser, I then followed suit! Power, heat, leather, and comfort :p. Use the search function on the MUD toolbar, tons and tons of seats have been replaced

Good luck and welcome :flipoff2:

I have Smittybilt suoer seats in mine the hole are in the frame to bolt them right up

These seats are great. Bolt in to your factory brackets. No mods needed. I love them and they were they best comfort mod I have done.

Ugh, so Expensive....

I am thinking of Covering My Factory Seats w. these from Auto Anything.com

elegant_canvas_tan.jpg

They are custom fitted Saddleman Canvas seat covers. I put them in My Tacoma, and the Fit was excellent and the Fabric is very durable, and they bead water as my 18 month old helped me find out!

$135.95 w. free shipping.

On the site you can select Toyota LandCruiser 1985+ which will work for any 60, I think, since the seats never changed much year to year.

did this last weekend

x2 or 3 or whatever.... I really like'em and easy to install.

Seat covers are nice for covering up holes but they do nothing for support. Most of these old seats are worn out from top to bottom. Getting new seats is increadibly comfy. The side bolsters hold you in place when off camber and they make long and short drives much better. Yes they cost more than covers but IMHO money well spent.

Also bolts right in

Corbeau Seats VX-2000’s Black with Red inserts, red 3 point comp seat, Still in box BT's rust and paint prep isn't far enough along for pic's yet. But look good.

I have these on mine... with some minor fab.. they seat about 1" higher but are super confortable..specially on long drives...

Yeah,

My Seats aren't too bad in my 60 aside from a big rip in the usual spot.

I really wish there was an alternative to spending an MINIMUM of $200.00 each on aftermarket seats. even the JC whitmey ones with shipping are $$$

I've searched craigslist periodically for used seats out of something else, and have had very little luck. ebay as well.

Im sure i will cave and buy the IPOR's once i get really sick of being uncomfortable.

As stated by hicruise55, Volvo seats make a nice addition. They do require some cutting/welding, but boy what they do for comfort and overall feel.

Mine were from a 2002 S60.
