Hi all. I drive a '86 FJ60. Has anyone replaced the stock driver and passenger seats with seats from a different make/model vehicle? If so, what year, make and model did you use. Were you able to bolt directly into the floor mounts or did you have to fabricate custom mounts?
Philos started a thread on putting Volvo S70 seats in his Cruiser, I then followed suit! Power, heat, leather, and comfort . Use the search function on the MUD toolbar, tons and tons of seats have been replaced
I am thinking of Covering My Factory Seats w. these from Auto Anything.com
They are custom fitted Saddleman Canvas seat covers. I put them in My Tacoma, and the Fit was excellent and the Fabric is very durable, and they bead water as my 18 month old helped me find out!
$135.95 w. free shipping.
On the site you can select Toyota LandCruiser 1985+ which will work for any 60, I think, since the seats never changed much year to year.
Seat covers are nice for covering up holes but they do nothing for support. Most of these old seats are worn out from top to bottom. Getting new seats is increadibly comfy. The side bolsters hold you in place when off camber and they make long and short drives much better. Yes they cost more than covers but IMHO money well spent.
