Hello,
I am trying to remove the worm gear and bearings from the long steering shaft.

Is this only done with a gear puller?

Chop saw or torch.

The worm gear is integral to the steering shaft.

Ahh.. :)

So I came to find out that the 68-72(?) worm gear is maybe 1-2mm longer than the pre 68....

I am trying to fit in a 68 worm gear into my clam-shell style mounted steering box from 66.

Having a hard time finding the old worm gear/steering shaft. Please if anyone has one let me know...

Here's the difference. Pretty small... eh? :/

...notice the one on the right.. It has no more shaft. :D
