I went out to give the LC a quick cleaning before we take a trip later this week and much to my surprise my rear passenger seat is covered in white marks. We went to the lake with the neighbors a few weeks ago and all I can figure is my neighbor's wife had lotion or sun screen or something that rubbed all over the seat and door panel.

The marks laughed at my leather conditioner, which I guess is more protectant than cleaner, or maybe just garbage. Sprayway glass cleaner kinda works but that seems a bit harsh.

im not sure what these seats are even made of, I doubt it is real leather.

Any tips from you guys that are good at cleaning LC200 seats? Bound to be some parents out there that can recommend a product. Else I'll just throw money at the vinyl/leather isle at O'Reilly's till I find something that works.

Thanks in advance!

Rob

The seat out sucks, it was getting dark

In general my first attempt at cleaning leather car seats is with carpet cleaner. Works surprisingly well. Does not damage or remove any dye. In fact I use it indoors to remove marks on white painted walls and also there it works remarkable well without lifting or removing any of the white paint. You can buy those hand held spray bottles. I have one in each of the back of our cars...

N.B. Whatever you do or get advised, try it out in a small corner or on your indoors painted walls... and check it does not lift any color

BTDT. It's makeup.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser with plain water.

Yep, makeup.

I can't help much with the process, but do know only the top of the coolbox and top/ skin-facing seating surfaces are real leather. The sides of the seats are vinyl. The arm rest on the door is plastic as well.

Not sure if Lexus puts more leather in theirs, but that's how my LC is laid out.

I would NOT use a Magic Eraser.
I also have black seats and have used one several times, never an issue. Like everything, you have to use it in moderation, like good beer.

sunscreen, lexol cleaner works best for me, but not 100%

Larry from Ammo NYC does a ton of videos on cleaning cars and leather. One of his big themes to approaching stains is start with the least intense method of cleaning and work your way up. Perhaps a relevant video to check out:

1) I'd start with a PH balanced cleaner that won't dry up the leather/vinyl/plastic on the interior. Larry makes one AMMO Lather Interior Cleanser - https://ammonyc.com/collections/interior/products/ammo-lather-interior-cleanser
Use that with microfiber towels or a soft brush

2) I'd bring heat to the party. If you're having trouble with chemical cleaners alone, heat can help break down stains. This steam cleaner is moderately priced and can be used for more than just leather stains.

Amazon product ASIN B07C44DM6D

3) Abrasives. Use at your own risk. This would be the Magic Eraser or scrub pad on Larry's site. They can actually start rubbing off the top layer of the paint on the leather or painted plastic, or change the sheen on leather or plastic. But can be used judiciously with positive results.

If its still there, you can call in someone like FibreNew.com to come do color-matched painting of the leather and plastic surfaces.

Thanks for the tips guys. I picked up som McGuire leather cleaner and have removed the stains. I need to pay closer attention to this type of activity and wipe down the seats after this type of use. I would have went with the lexol but my parts store was out.

Post a pic of the cleaner and the area cleaned. Nice job.

Glad you got it removed. I have a sunscreen handprint on the bumper of my 4Runner that is 10 years old! My wife uses blue lizard sunscreen and I have been battling the stains for many years.

Get a bottle of optimum no rinse off amazon with a 32oz spray bottle. Fill it up with water and add half a cap of ONR. You'll have all the interior detailer you'll ever need.
Awesome cleaner and leaves no residue/scent.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I don't have a good before pic but the back seat bottom was white. I used this stuff, and went old school with a terry cloth wash cloth for added abrasion. I might start doing this regularly as the whitewash cloth was grimy and the seats look much better. My interior is kinda rough as the PO had a dog and clearly didn't care about the interior. Makes it that much easier for me to throw s*** in it for a camping trip. But the leather clean made it look much better. ill do it again with Lexol when I get some.

is the chemical guys stuff any good?
