I've tried searching but the machine is beating me today.

I have a 2011 LC200 - how do I find out if I have a Remote Starter or not?

If not, is this a DIY type thing?

I stumbled over the part when looking for something completely unrelated.

This is an Engine Control Unit (ECU) service part for Remote Engine Starter (RES).

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Go outside, hit the lock button THREE times, on the 3rd press hold and wait for the beep. I believe there may be a sticker under the hood as well. And yes you can install an aftermarket or OEM starter. Mine is an OEM starter that I had installed because my 2011 didn’t come with one. They are pretty decent, but turn off as soon as you unlock the door, so you need to re start it once you get in.

Hmm, if the three times locking doesn’t work the only thing I think it could be is a fuse :meh: My OEM, hit the lock 3 times and hold the third wait and get another beep and She fires right up.

Here are the instructions for the 2011 Land Cruiser OEM remote start from the Camelback Toyota accessories catalog:

Remote Engine Start, RES (Landcruiser Wagon)
The VIP Remote Engine Starter allows vehicle owners to start the engine before entering the vehicle—as well as to activate the air conditioner, heater, defroster and defogger functions (when pre-set before exiting the vehicle)—so owners can have their vehicle ready and waiting with a comfortable interior temperature. And because it’s fully integrated into the vehicle’s existing factory security/keyless entry system, there’s no need for an additional remote. The remote engine starter is operated by pushing the “lock” button on the keyless entry fob in a quick, three-step sequence: (1) push and release “lock” button; (2) push and release “lock” button again; (3) then push and hold “lock” button for three seconds—and the engine starts. The engine can also be stopped remotely by pushing the “unlock” button once, or by pushing and holding the lock button for two seconds or more.

Has anyone bothered installing an aftermarket one that allows you to remote start from a cell phone? As most of us know, the range on our fobs are pretty terrible. It'd be nice to remote start without having to walk up to my vehicle. :D

No luck. Will look at the fuses tomorrow after work.

Go outside and hit your lock button on your remote 5 times .... on the 5th try, hold the lock button down and it will start up in 2-3 seconds @pf graham

Okay, okay, let me start by saying, right after I started this thread, I passed out - this flu that is going around on the West Coast, just about killed me so a quick 3 hour nap and I'm, well, awake.

Next, went out for some doctor prescribed matazaball soup and tried it - didn't work - fine - it's not like this isn't the greatest SUV ever made - I can live with that.

Got to the deli thought I would try again and guess what - IT WORKS!!!!!

I must have looked like an idiot - pointing at my rig, running, people thinking I was homeless and probably 'oh, hope the homelesss man doesn't dirty up that amazing, running, Toyota' - it worked, it worked, it worked!

I touched the door and it stopped so now, I need to figure out the procedure and such.

Maybe it didn't work the first time because I didn't wish for it hard enough.

Thanks CSteppe82! - Like a little belated X-Mas gift!

...that's why it turned off - I thought perhaps it was just showing me who's the boss.

Did you say something nice about your rig first - come-on Rookie, get with the program...

Do you mind taking a picture of the ECU? Is there a harness that is required to install this if I don't already have one?

Go outside and hit your lock butt on THREE AND THREE QUARTERS times and your engine will start.
Sorry for replying old threads. I have Europe spec 2012, mine only beeps when trying this.

Mine has the remote start sticker but the key functionality of 3 presses does not work - is there a fuse for the system somewhere?

I have a viper remote start and the fob works from a pretty long distance. I didn’t need the Viper app because of how good the distance is. The key fob has a small screen showing you that’s it’s on, also locked or unlocked as well.

The D/C cut fuse may or may not be to blame. It’s involved in the system, for sure. There are also some techstream features that can be enabled/disabled. Here’s the install procedure which includes the fuse and techstream items:

thanks for posting - I'll check if maybe the cut fuse was left in - that's a detailed install guide!

I think it’s the procedure from TIS.

Edited to remove bad information.
