Remington tires?

I have not heard of Remington tires, and so I was looking for their website and found this: http://www.remingtontire.com/remingtontire.htm

Are they only available in Canada? Has anyone else heard of these? They look good, and are in my price range, (so far)!

When I worked at Les Schwab years ago we sold remington commercial tires for all the big rigs hauling containers to and from the docks in seattle. They were a quality tire. Do not know much about passenger and light truck applications. If the price is right go for it.

All the Remington Tyres I've seen are Dunlops made in New Zealand. Same as all the other normal type Tyres out there.

I have a set of the 33x12.5x15s on my 60. Theyve held up pretty well on pavement
but they are pretty loud - high pitched noise that sounds like little goblins.
Koffer says he can hear me about a mile away from his house!!
Good radio drowns 'em out!!

And I'm sure with his cheetah like quickness that gives him ample time to get to the door to make sure it's locked.

Had remingtons on an old pickup. They were black and round, other than that don't think they would highly qualify as something you'd want on your 80.

Don't know much about Remington tires but most tires on Ebay have one of two issues I've noticed.

1) they are used and worn described as "excellent condition", "lots of tread",.... and have 5-7/32, or they are unevenly worn, then add the shipping.

2) purchase price is reasonable, shipping is extreme.

I've just noticed this while surfing around.

BTW, I found my "new" BFG AT at a tire dealer as take offs I have put 7-8k on them and they still have the little nubbies.

I had Remington 33/12.50's on my old CJ7 (don't rip me - I was 16 and it was a chick magnet) - I think they were called "Wide-Brutes" at the time....one word for you "LOUD ". They were great for off-roading - but you should think seriously about what you're willing to put up with on a DD 80.

As far as the shipping thing - FedEx ground is the only way to go (you can ship almost anywhere for $20-25 a tire )
