I see it indicated as a "horn" relay and a "heater" relay in various places, and even "tail". I have mine here, it was in the Relay Block #1 under the steering column in my 24v LHD truck.

1. Is it horn or heater or was this same relay used for different things over the years?

2. Anyone know how to test it?

I'm chasing a horn-no-go-beep-beep problem. My truck is not supposed to have a horn relay but I was checking out the relays in Block #1 and came across these varying descriptions of this part.

So... my horn issue has been resolved (DOH) but I learned a lot along the way.

1. In the end it appears that the issue was that one of the horns was "bad". Early on I had tested one to make sure it "beeped" but I didn't test the other one. Apparently the bad one was somehow causing both to fail... maybe it was shorting out the circuit (no fuses blew)... I dunno.

2. The EWD that I was using that said the (*7) series doesn't use a relay was incorrect for my particular truck. (I had XXX it out before I found this new info.)

3. I found another diagram that shows a "Horn Relay (Europe)". I DO have a horn relay!

4. The multiple versions of the 70 series that were sold all over the place is a PITA when you don't have THE FSM for your exact truck.

5. I have now installed two 24v Hella horns I had here on the shelf - intended for an upgrade "down the line".

6. This gave me the opportunity to check and document the relays in Relay Block #1

7. I was reminded (pun intended) to figure out the "Light Reminder Relay"... to see what need to happen to make it work!

Regarding the horn relay: in the process of tracing the wiring to verify the horn button worked and that I have continuity out to he horn connector(s) I verified that the horn relay is in fact a horn relay. And I tested it to verify it is working properly.

you have all of us here from around the globe chomping at the bit here man !

what were the results recorded on the horn relay , verified good working order or dead on arrival

we need to know , and need to know now .....

As I said above:
"And I tested it to verify it is working properly"

Or maybe that was unclear. Let's try this:
"I tested the relay and it is working properly."
