Don't forget - Super Bowl Snow Run on Feb. 3rd!

Oh crap, that's right...he needs to install and break in before the run :D Get busy dude.

My gear experience:

SW 4x4 - I had a True Trac installed in the front of my 4Runner by these guys. I ran it for 3 years with no problem.

4Wheel Parts ABQ - I had 4WP install an ARB in the front of my 4Runner. The first trip to Moab the R&P basically exploded. They would not stand behind the work.

U-Joints Inc. - I took the front to them after it exploded. They put in a new gear set with the ARB and all is well a year later.

Zuk - After destroying 2 used e-locked diffs I had Zuk build me a bullet proof rear e-locker. He had the gears and bearings cryo'd, added a solid crush sleeve and it works flawlessly. Since, I had another built for a friend at it too works flawlessly.

With all of that said, ZUK will build all of my diffs from here on out. He is knowledgeable fair on $, usually keeps everything in stock and just loves to build diffs.

OK Jim - For those of us who don't have a clue - is Zuk local? Does he have a shop, and if so, what's the name of the shop?

Thanks -Evan

Zuk is actually out of Phoenix...Toyota Gear Installs

Can't recall his real name but he is very well known in this arena. Works out of his garage from Nov - May, I think. After that, the heat gets too unbearable in the garage.

Zuk is actually out of Phoenix...

Zuk has an excellent reputation but, as Ali stated, he doesn't like to do the 80-Series rear e-locker diffs.... at least that is what we have heard. He did one for Bear80 as a favor because he was in a bind and had been screwed over by 2 other shops that messed up the install.

I really do NOT want to ship these things if I can get them done locally by Ryan or U-Joints. I don't need anything special like cryo hardening... 80-series diffs are pretty tough.

I have been thinking about how to get the diffs back in. Maybe a tranny jack?

Very cool. If you decide on River City, send them to me and I'll take them out to Sean.

Since your truck is going to be down awhile, what are you driving in the mean time?

Thanks for the offer Andy! My life will be a lot easier if I can drive them to a local shop.

I bought a 1994 beater sedan a few months back for my DD. It now has about 110k miles but it runs great.

U-Joints is good and local...

Lots of Toyota stuff here in Las Cruces. Today I saw a Corolla for $1k and discovered a workmate of mine has a ~93 80 with lockers they are going to sell. She didn't know what the switch was for... I told her to let me know. It's maroon.

I just heard from Ryan and he is really busy for the next couple of weeks. He recommended (again) that I take the diffs to U-Joints for the gear installs so that is what I will do.

Good. Now that we have that settled, if I were you Mike, I'd copy the pages of the FSM that show specs. for backlash, shims, etc. for both front and rear gear set-ups. Even if they don't use them, at least they know that you are an educated vehicle owner....just my .02.

Unfortunately, if the rebuild is between the 26th of Jan and the 6th of Feb, the Onur-jack will be out-of-country. But if it is afterward, the Onur-jack will be more than happy to lift diff into place....

:D

Which brings up the concept: We would hope the Onur-jack wouuld be be extremely careful during the out-of-country ... time period.

Get some cruiser pictures too, eh?

Check x2.

Biggest worry is that the Turkish officials in customs decide that this is an opportune time for Onur-jack to start his 18-month mandatory conscription stint on the Iraq border.

I guess my rebuild would have to wait awhile....anyone interested in adopting a well behaved old english sheepdog for 18 months?

-o-

Of course maybe you could postpone the potential border guard possibility...

English Sheepdogs are great dogs. We'd love to, as long as it would
1. Fit through the dog doors (big enough for a Lab), and
2. Get along with our dogs - we'd have to "meet" in a neutral location. When do you leave?

So the Onur-jack is off for a few days? Have fun. If you get conscripted then send me a PM. I might have some old fatigues around somewhere. :D
