So I just bought piece of property with a house and a large garage/ 8 acres / pool / etc.

I’ll be Moving in over the next few weeks then you’re all invited to a big project HAMOMs/camp out/bonfire/weekend party.

LOTS of room inside to work and there’s a 45x15 carport too. I’m thinking 8-10 trucks could all be working at once.

Late April, early May - let’s get some axles rebuilt! Who’s in? Grab your rebuild kits now!

Congrats on the new property! Great shop.

Just a little education that I received when we bought our (farm) errrrr ranch. I referred to our place as a farm and was quickly told that if I only have live stock and raise no crops that it is a ranch. But, that changed a bit when I went through the process off registering the property with Fed, State and County as a tree farm to retain our Ag stamps. This is for tax purposes as Ag is taxed far less than residential property.

Seeing how we do not raise anything like corn etc. I did some research and found that a tree farm was included in the Ag restrictions. I went on line and read many business plans and mission statements related to tree farms. I then wrote the biggest BS business plan for our very exclusive tree farm that may only harvest one specific tree a year for a particular customer. Most of it is planned for future harvest, primarily after I am dead.

Look into your county regs on the subject. Here all but the one acre that the house sits on can be deemed Ag. It will seriously cut your property taxes. That shop of yours is for housing farm equipment :)

That's dope, congrats! Whereabouts?

Time for 44’s ! Biscuit looks so tiny now ;)

Awesome man. Congrats. Excited for you both.

Already zoned agricultural. :) I'll have to look into how we can use that. There's 3(ish) acres of hay as part of the property.

Find someone who will cut the hay a couple of times a year and write you a meager check for it so that you can maintain a paper trail. That will keep it legit as far as farm tax is concerned. That's what I do with my mother's 40 acre home property. It may be difficult to find someone who is willing to cut 3 acres though. Probably wouldn't get more than two or three round bales each cutting.

James, I think you might have bought a lemon.....

Your woodstove is leaking water....

Congrats!

The previous owner put zero stock in downspouts - they all drop right onto the ground by the foundation... That's pretty high on the priority list. And a great excuse to rent a mini excavator :)

Awesome

Sheep are easy to raise on pasture and low maintenance. You can breed then sell the extra's for meat.
Have you seen the show Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon? Worth a watch, it’s funny. Your opinion on rearing sheep may change.

I was just going to mention the Sheeping episode.

you should seriously bombard Jeremy Clarkson on social media, saying you became so inspired by his series , that you decided to do the same thing. heck, he may show up if you let him thrash the suby and celica a bit. :)

What time would you like to start. As the date nears. I would be glad to bring food along with my tired old self.

On a side note James :) We've been on this place 12 years now and something has sunk in..................

When you get all moved in and settled, start driving around the area at take notice of all the old run down farms. They are all over the place. There is a reason.

They all killed the guy that was taking care of them.

What a way to go :)
