Hundy stuck in the Rio Peurco. Anyone have a duelly or a winch? The F150 with me couldn't pull me back up with the tow strap.

Thanks in advance,

Nate

Been wracking my brain about how to recover my rig. I think a land anchor (pull pal) and winch off the arb back bumper with a couple snatch blocks might do it. The sand and gravel nearby is really hard to get any traction on for the rig itself or a rescue vehicle. Does anyone know where I can locally procure said recovery tools? I would prefer to borrow but will buy if needed.

I can help, but not until around noon. To-to-ate-for-7-to-one.

Thanks to jstncse I'm out!

Thanks to everybody else for the offers I appreciate being in the area were someone's willing to come to the aid of another fellow!

Late last night was a crappy situation- one I hope to never repeat.

Didn't stay the night, called in the calvary (wife) and after a stern tongue lashing over the phone she drove out and collected a humble fella and his son.

So, what happened? What was the situation?

HDC has done a number of serious rescues over the years....

I do very much appreciate this about HDC.... If someone's rig is somewhere, we do what we have to do to get the rig at least to civilization if not getting it cometely home...

We've had a half dozen examples over the past 8 yrs.

Glad all went well and Tyrell was able to assist.

Well as usual, pictures do not do the situation justice. Nate's hundy was sitting on the frame with the back end in the air and almost perpendicular with the trail. I was able to back down the slope on the other side of the trail and get a pretty straight pull on him with my winch.
So sad, no pictures of the rescue extraordinaire;)

I was out here last weekend, but not as far west with friends shooting skeet. We wanted to find a place further out because there was still too much in the way of people riding around.

So I figured a little scouting was in order... I went out too far on a finger ledge, by the time the gut reaction kicked in that I needed to get out of there I got distracted while backing up and the grade below the front divers side tire gave way. In a short moment I was sitting on the frame unable to go down (thankfully) or back up. I called in the calvery. (my house is about 5-10 miles from this locale, if we ever need a meetup near the Puerco I'll volunteer my place) The Mrs in F150 couldn't pull me out so we left it for the night, on the way out since cell was spotty I posted up here. By morning I saw several posts and called Tyrell who came over, never having met me this morning, picked me up, and saved my rig from the unknowns of the Rio Puerco.

This group is always up for a recovery session it seems!!

You feel like hosting a monthly meeting at your place? That'd be a good way to get to know the club members!! Looking for a host this month <wink>!!!!

Come on over! Tyrell can vouch for the space. I do have a newborn so anyone shy of a little crying be warned. We're not planning any trips the rest of this year so other thank the holidays we're open.

Well, if you feel like hosting this month, respond to the October monthly meeting thread with specifics. We usually make these meetings a potluck affair so usually people chime in with what they are bringing.

Pick your weekend and the time.

Thanks for volunteering :-)
