From what I understand, a forklift motor won't work without modifications, but my memory is a bit foggy. The diesel guys should have definitive answers

I found a good shop that does nice work, and knows Cruisers, in Westchester County up in Buchanan. They did an awesome job on my custom exhaust, and they know their way around LC's;

If you need alternator, starter, brake work, drive line "ujoint work" Can do. I also have a up to day scanpon solus scanner YouTube - Snap-on SOLUS PRO Scanner‏ that can scan domestic and asian ODBI and II cars from 1982 to 2009/2010vehicles. If you need a transmission replaced, I have a mobile tranmission jack.
If you need work done, call at 604-787- eight 4 sixx five.

I found Richard with the advice of many on this thread. I needed my brother-in-law's 1985 FJ60 running again so I can possibly sell it and give the proceeds to my bro-in-laws that's been strapped for cash. Richard identified a number of problems and found the quickest and least expensive solution to repair it. His experience is evident when you speak to him. His shop if full of customers and yet he gives a resonable turn around time. I'm trying to convince him to work on my Datsun but refuses. It only shows he is an honest man who won't say yes to everything.

If you need a good mechanic and are in Central California, Jon at Jenkins Automotive is a cruiser addict, has a 62 series he uses as his DD and has been competent and honest with me and my 60.
I recently blew a head gasket a long ways from home on my way to go camping with wife, kids and dogs. Tim @ LANDCRUISER SPECIALTIES in Oregon City, OR recommended a good tow company to get my rig to him. He worked diligently on my 87 FJ60 to get me back on the road while being very busy with other prior customers. He was in constant contact keeping me updated on the repair. I was a little concerned about sending my heavily accessorized vehicle to an unknown place wondering if it would be secure or get pilfered at night by tweakers but it was in good hands. The cost of service was totally acceptable and the work was professional. Tim is a really nice guy who knows LC's. My only regret was not being able to meet him in person, see his shop and talk toyota. Maybe next time.....just not on a camping trip!

I can highly recommend Carlos, Union Three Auto in Highland Park/Cypress Park, Los Angeles, CA. I have owned my LC for just over 2 years now and have been taking it to Carlos for basic service and repairs and he has always been very informative and extremely reasonably priced. He is not a dedicated cruiser mechanic but I have had him do everything from reworking the emissions controls to pass smog, suspension to recently a new clutch. I have always been very pleased with his work and as I said earlier he is very reasonably priced.

New to the forum, so am doing my part here as a "newbie" on the site located a world away from where most of the Cruiser owners here appear to be from.
Great Cruiser mechanic located in EL-Amereya, Egypt (near Alexandria, Egypt): Mohammed Basiouny. To find him you have to ask around, but his workshop is located near the EL-Amereya Bridge. A thief and a scoundrel, but he will definitely get your rig running right. Does restorations as well.
In the Cairo area, contact Shaheer Yostas (shaheer@offroadegypt.com) for off-road accessories and for recommendation of local mechanics there. I've know Shaheer for years and he has never done me wrong.
In Hurghada, well....forget it. Bunch of shade-tree mechanics that have the market rapped up because they can get parts from Cairo. One guy however, Mr. Fawzy Mohammed, runs a Jeep repair shop, does business properly and can get things done. Be aware that he is slow and expensive...but at the end of the day he gets the job done.
And that's my 2-cent's worth here.

Ralph is the owner. Super solid guy, owns a 60-series himself, knows some stuff about wheeling and is smart/cool enough to refer specialized stuff to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.
I got the ref several years ago from a guy who does his own restorations and insists on his cruisers being immaculate; figured if he was willing to pay Ralph, it was worth it. Have had nothing but great results.
Also, if you take your cruiser here, you have a decent chance to getting phone calls from one of Ralph's mechanic, whose name is Angel. My wife just loves it when "Angel from Divinity" leaves voicemails. I find that spousal humor around the time of a cruiser repair is a good thing.
