If you are in Richmond or In the surrounding area and are looking for a great cruiser mechanic, these are your guys. If you would like to see what they have done for me you can call or text me and I will send you pics and a list of the work. My number is (804) 855-4652 and I'm Brian

I needed a diesel specialist for our JDM HJ60 and found the perfect team just a few miles from home. Marcus Myers is the genius engineer there who installed a turbo kit on our 2H and took on some other maintenance issues. Wouldn't take it anywhere else now.

The son of the owner has an FJ40 and the son works at the garage as well. They did great work on my FJ60. They are NOT open on weekends and are great mechanics so they are busy all the time. Make sure to call before driving in.

you might want to ask your questions about good shops over in the clubhouse area...respective to where you live and the local cruiser club in the area. Most likely members there have a good understanding of who to work with... As it may apply to your situation and location.

Don did the V8 swap on my 1985 FJ60. I can tell you that he did an outstanding job. I would not hesitate to take another Land Cruiser to him.

Good little shop in conifer colorado. called CTS(Colorado Toyota Specialists)They work on all toyotas, but the owner is an old school landcruiser guy. They do awesome conversions and other work on cruisers, but don't really advertise it. Really good with emissions stuff. But they aren't cheap

I've used Javier for my FJ needs and I could not be happier. He's very knowledgable and there's a ton of FJ candy around the shop to look at. His quotes are fair and he delivers on time. I'd also strongly recommend him.

Lots of travelling cruiserheads and many new owners would like to locate a reliable mechanic in their area, or know who to go to if they have a problem on the road.

It has been suggested that we try to establish a sticky thread for people to make personal recommendations for a mechanic they know well and with whom have done business.

Please provide:

City (or County) & STATE
Name of Mechanic

Let's try to get some solid recommendations for our brother (and sister) Cruiserheads.

Hi,

I noticed that Bill Lee of Bill's Toy Shop isn't listed under New Mexico. I have been going to Bill for over ten years....I even commuted to NM from San Diego because he is that good. He has done. Several full restorations for me and taken care of my 40, multiple 60's, an 80, and a 100. He is a Toyota Master Technician and an ASE Master Technician and has been specializing in LC's for over twenty years. His reputation is impeccable and he's a hell of a nice guy. He is also a pilot so he has that type A attention to detail that I lack. He often replaces little things like the clip for the hood rod without mentioning it or charging for it. He always has the time to hold my hand when I need some help (like a handy trick last weekend while replacing the starter on my 100....ugh) and let's you watch, help, and learn as he works on your rig. His shop rates are incredibly reasonable and he doesn't over charge for original Toyota parts. He just moved from Silver City to Farmington about a month ago so it might make sense to put him in the Colorado list as well (he's only 45 minutes from Durango). I have no interest in his shop nor do I work for him or get special treatment. I'm writing this because he is an mazurka g mechanic and really honest and great guy. As a side note, he also knows how to use LC's as they were meant to be used. He has an amazing 60 that sees real time on the trail. He also teaches classes locally and at Overland Expo. His contact info is below. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Cheers, Andy.

#1 Toyota of Gastonia
About 20 minutes west of downtown Charlotte/Exit 22 off I-85
Ask for Brian Barcon - Tell him Andrew sent you
(704) 824-7777
Have serviced four vehicles with Brian over five years, never a bad experience. Clearly costs more to go here, but its done right the first time. Plus, I've never run into any $1,500 front-end brake jobs, etc. (i.e. no BS)

#2 Toyota Techs
About 15 minutes south of downtown Charlotte/Exit 90 off I-77 (Carowinds)
2788 Hwy 21 Business
Ford Mill, SC 29715
(704) 377-9333
Heard good things for a while about these guys and finally had some service done there earlier this year. Reasonable prices and good job.

Anyone know if Brian Barcon still works for Toyota of Gastonia? Who is Andrew?
Also anyone had any recent experience with "Toyota Techs"?

Sorry guys but the best cruiser mechanic I ever found was me. This may sound strange but I thought I was the only one that loved my old cruiser. :)
