Recommend a coating (Line-X or similar)

I'm almost finished with my J-Moose style roof rack.
(Full write-up in a few days.)

I'd like to coat the surface (the "top", where the cargo will go) with some kind of durable rubbery material. The goal is basically to keep hard metal objects (like gas cans) from rattling around up there.
I don't want anything abrasive. The goal is NOT to make it easier to scratch up my cargo.

Can anyone recommend an affordable, easy to apply coating that would meet this goal?

I plan on doing the rest of my rig in a light gray color. It's cheaper than paint and far more durable. I scratch the ish outta my rig so I figure why not coat it all.

You can get UV versions of every color and texture. No sure about where to buy. I ordered mine online and it shipped to my casa.

I'd like to "cushion" the ride of the cargo just a bit, if you know what I'm saying.

I ordered a gallon of black and it was $90 to my casa. It's not the UV stuff, but it is applied on the exterior of my vehicle. It has fadded just a little, but still think it looks utilitarian as it was intended. The more you put on the more rubbery/cushiony it is.

Because I'll only be covering a small area, I might just use a couple cans of spray-on PlastiDip for $14.

One of them is in Colorado I believe. You can get quarts. They are more expensive. I think the gallon I got of blue was 130ish and 4 quarts was 180ish.

The first gallon on my 40 faded a bit, but that may have bee since I sprayed it and it was a bit thin.

Other choices available locally - Duplicolor bedliner. You can get it in gallons, quarts, or spray cans at Wally World. I've used it for inside of fenders and such. It's not as tough as durabak, but it's easy to touch up since you can get it in any town. You gotta like black though, it's your ownly choice. If I was building it, and it could be sprayed with black paint, I usually went ahead and sprayed it with duplicolor.

Would it be a good idea to use Duplicolor/Reflex lining on the inside of the fenders in the wheel wells? Whenever spring break rolls around, I'm gonna get my roof lined, the tub lined, and maybe remove the flares and line where they were. I figure since I'm only having to pay for the materials and do the work, then I might as well go all out. Also, is there anything I missed that you would suggest lining?
