i'm working on my indoor staircase. the plan is to assemble red oak into individual treads, and finsih them in the garage where the mess can be held to a minumin. once a few finish coats are on and hardened, they will be fitted, glued and nailed down onto the existing treads. the new treads are made of of manufactured 3/4" tounge & groove "strip" planking. and a few edge peices that i'm making in my shop.for these shop produced peices i had to make the tounge n grooves with onhand tools -so the mateing surfaces aren't quite ideal. does anyone know of an off the shelf construction glue ( idealy caulk gun dispenced- & bounus points if it can be bought at a homedepo) that will fill gaps under 1/16" AND dry over night? to the point where it can be taken out of the jig and worked on? my self imposed schedual is to glue up one a day, in a jig/mold.
