So CruiserBrett went all carb jedi master yesterday and finally solved all my carb woes. Thanks brudda! Truck runs better than it ever has...and way more power than before when I had my old Rochester...thanks Jim C. Biggest lesson I learned with this whole ordeal was that my mechanic doesn't know what the hell he is doing on these old Land Cruisers.
I had multiple instances/issues with this carb and I think all were due to the original shop running my fuel line in through the return port as well as coming up with some ghetto ass JB weld job on the Banjo bolt fitting to fix/seal the threads they broke in the air horn where the BJB screws in. You wouldn't believe what the BJB looked like as well as how stripped out the threads were. The leaking of the fuel out of the bowl we figured out was coming from the glass sight window not sealing as well as a loose bolt near the float window. On top of all of this, the idle and idle mixture screw were set by the crap mechanic all out of whack.
Ed "Degnol" supplied me with a new air horn, thanks brudda, and with a little tweaking all was solved. Brett, ran a really nice custom hard line(see pics) into the proper fuel inlet, resealed the float bowl window and loose screw, reset the idle & idle mixture and reset the timing. The truck purrs like a kitten now. I am so glad to have the thing running good! On top of all the carb work Brett and a couple other buddies helped me get my old Bellview 5687 running again. So stoked.
Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone again for all their advice and help, hope I can return the favor some day.
