The master window switch in my 80 has needed The Fonz technique (slapping in just the right place) to work properly over the last couple of months and I got all ambitious and decided that since I build stuff for a living that I should disect and repair said switch.

Nope! Didn't work at all.

I bought this truck for a song a couple of years ago and VERY quickly discovered that some basic parts aren't easy to find. Furthermore some parts dealers that specialize in these vehicles are damn near rapists. With some dilligence I've found a few folks I like to do business with and I figured I could score a switch with minimal scarring and the answer from the little dealership in Fl. that's ben so good to me was $300.00!

Nope! F that. You can get a device that has more than 6 buttons that can access the internet for not much more than that.

SOR was around $120. I kept huntin'. Then magic of the internet led me here.

$58 bucks shipped to my doorstep in the Fort Worth area from Atlanta in 2 days with a warranty. It fits, it works, it's the right part. I wanted to share this info since this forum has been an amazing source of info for me as I turned a neglected 80 into my favorite 20 year old vehicle I've ever owned. I hope it helps someone out.

That's a smoking deal.:D Luckily a friend gave me one or I'd be in the market. Did you talk them into becoming a vendor on 'Mud?

A new switch is a good option. Cleaning the burned contacts may extend the life of the old one IME, FWIW.

had problems with switch in dodge truck, [farm truck], sprayed lots of pb blaster in it, and no problems .

Ordered from them awhile ago for my grandmas Camry. Great service and a quality part.

PB Blaster can permanently damage some rubbers and coatings. CRC Electronics cleaner (QD or regular) is less likely to damage electrical components IMHO.

thanks for sharing, this is a great find, I just wondered what year your 80 was? I would like to have a spare for my 96, does this switch have auto up as well?

Thanks
Seth

No Sir. No auto up. My beloved moneypit is a '92.

And yes Kernal, I know I can search stuff and learn things here. That's why I'm here. It's been very helpful. I'm just trying to pitch in and help out.

Thanks for sharing  Mine has been acting up for a while with dirt and water getting in there repeatedly and I've delayed replacing it but you just motivated me and I ordered one. I'll certainly pass it on to the others
