Does the deflector have a use. I have heard they help keep the rear window cleaner but mine does not seem to. It may help aerodynamically though.

I have seen pics where at least one of you guys have removed yours. I might ditch mine as I like the looks better without it. What to you use to fill/cover the four holes with that is easy and cosmetically acceptable.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm with you on that. I don't really love the looks. Although I saw a 00LX River Rock, that had it painted to match (I assume it comes that way) and looks pretty good.

I think, just like the station wagons from the '60's that had these things, the deflector creates a windswirl at the rear window keeping it a bit less dusty. It seems to work for me in our environment here...but to be fair I have never owned this vehicle without it either.

Take it off and sell it some kid to bolt onto his Civic.

Wasn't it part of the POE package that included the running boards and trailer hitch?

I took mine off, but the holes make it virtually impossible to remove without bodyshop TLC. Once off, I opted to color match it and reinstall. In rainy or dusty conditions, the back window does stay cleaner than those trucks without the deflector....for a while.

My trials bike stays allot cleaner going down dusty dirt roads with the wind deflector.
