After some quick help from some of you kind folks I now have my rear window frames in hand and am going to get on swapping them out.

Anyone able to comment on uninstall/reinstall process? There seems to be a lot of 60 window info here but I haven't found tonnes on the 70's. I have gleaned that the frames need to be glued in. Can someone direct me to the composition of said adhesive, as well as recommended brand name. I may or may not be able to aquire it by such a name in Costa Rica. If not I will likely (hopefully) be able to find an equivilant. I have the exploded parts drawing (below) just looking for real world thoughts on install process

As always, thanks for helping out a stranger.

Btw... rainy season is kicking off here in CR. The second attached photo is obviously juste a mud puddle on the road... So bummed out that I could only get a blurry photo, the third pic, anyone care to guess what it is? Sure we all have puddles where we live, but do yours have baby crocs in em?!? Ooooooh Costa Rica....

So long as it's not a full grown crocodile! Can't help with the window, I have a set that I haven't had time
to clean up and install. The only thing is the little wedges that go in along the bottom for what I think is
to level and space the installation so it's centered in the opening. Anyhow, post lots of pics as you go

In my experience the biggest part of the job was cutting between the frame and the FRP top with a boxcutter knife to break the original adhesive bond so the frame could be removed. Once the frame was out and the old adhesive removed, then the broken slider pane could be easily replaced. The window assembly was re-installed with commercial window adhesive at a glass shop.

According to my 1984 FSM, the 70 Series does not use adhesive whereas the 60,62,73 & 75 series do.

I removed my BJ70 windows to paint and there was no adhesive and so I reinstalled them without adhesive.

Hello,

x2.

Two options, three if a sealant is considered:
  1. Wrap a cord with soapy water around the weatherstrip groove, crossing the ends. Push it against the body and pull the cord. This wil force the window in place. Then tap it with your palms to finish.
  2. Put some white grease or Vaseline in the body lip where the weatherstrip fits. Have someone to hold the window from the outside and then push it inwards. From the inside, and starting from the bottom, pull the weatherstrip lip upwards and then down to make its groove fit into the body lip. Once the bottom is secured, do one side. Then do the other. Finish with the upper side. Now you go outside and tap with the palms to finish.
Both methods can be done using a sealant instead of soapy water/grease.

On each case, on the outside the weatherstrip lip makes a tight seal with the body.

Hope this helps.
