So I have just got the SR done up front on my frame up resto. I removed the rear hangers as there was frame repair needed. I was going to just put them back on as they were but they got tossed into the recycling and are gone.

I was wondering why can't I just drill out the rear of the frame and put the tube in like is done up front? So the rear would be the same as it was before just that the shackles would hang off the frame directly instead of off the hangers.

If I remember correctly, you will have to make some mods to the triangular brackets as well as box the frame in that area.

I have never seen anything in the tech section refering to that. Maybe I'm blind. I am refering to the rear springs as well here not the rear section of the front springs.(reread my post and it could have been confused)

The rear brackets are gone as well as the stock bumper and the angled pieces that brace it. The frame is tubed there to inclease the strength of the new bumper which I have not made yet. I was just thinking that I could get longer shckles in the back and be done with it.

Yes, I understood this to be the rear springs but I was thinking "stock frame". It sounds like you have already made the necessary mods to easily accept this type of mount. Go for it. :)

In one of my old copies of 4wheeldrive and sprot utility, they had an article about doing the SOA, with Danny Warden (formerly Wardens offroad in Placerville) and they boxed the rear frame and put the sleve through. So, I would say its fine to do, but you'll need some longer shackes in the back to compensate.

I've got the front shackle hangars still lying around from the SR I just did on my 40. I'd be more than happy to send
them to you if they would work. Seems to me the front and rear were the same just flipped around.
