I just spent way too much time today trying to solve a steering wheel vibration at 55-60 mph. I decided to do the rear U joints because lubricating them decreased the vibration 60% and this is a previously neglected 98 LC with almost 200k. It took a great deal of persuasion to get the old joints out. To my dismay it looks like all that persuasion bent the U joint wishbone. Any other thoughts or solution besides a new driveshaft? Also strangely the bottom (1st installed) bearing cup in the photo slid in with just gentle hand pressure whereas the top one required the press. I expected to need to press these In. I'm pretty sure I've got the right part 04371-60060. In the photo you can see my problem the gap for the snap ring is uneven (smaller on the left) and the cap on the top side is also uneven.

sure looks like it is bent down, with the joint out you should be able to measure the front and the back of the hole and see if there is a difference

Install the C-clip and drive it. With strain on it, things will get OK. This is a landcruiser and parts are made truly tough. If it is hard to install the C-clip, remove the other C-clip then install the first one and then install the removed clip again. Are you using OEM U-joints?

Inspect for any cracks. IF cracked, then don't use it.

If you feel any vibration, then decide the next step.

This is bad advice. The yoke is bent. I'd replace

Agree 100% to buy a new one. Then you could take the bent one to a reputable shop that specializes in driveline repairs and let them have a crack at it. If they can successfully repair it then now you have two drivelines!

Bent & other cup loose. I agree with others: R&R with new OEM. It's junk!
