Guys,
I am having to replace the rear main seal on the FJ80. Due to an oil leak I have ruled out the oil pan gasket by replacing it, now it's time to replace the seal.
The Hooiser Cruiser (Indiana) club is having a meeting and tech section on this Saturday.

My question: Is the process of taking the tranny down out of a FJ80 pretty quick, or is it sometime one should do over a weekend?
I am good with a tool and there will be many people there to help out, however I will have to overcome my learning curve with the tranny.

What has been your experience with an undertaking like this?

Jim

I would allow the weekend.

I would reccommend a real stong tranny jack, not just a floor jack. the tranny and t-case weigh a good deal and can hurt you or your buddies in a heart beat if it gets away from you. Other wise on a lift and a real tranny jack it takes me about 7-8 hours by my self to do a rear main. later robbie
