Heres the details in case they help: The door lock actuator motor got weak and I pulled the panel, removed the actuator, used a hair dryer to open the actuator, and replaced with a mabuchi motor with the brass collar. All was good and I put a zip tie around the actuator to keep it from coming open.

This is the third or fourth time I've replaced these on LC's so it wasnt a big job and worked perfect after getting it buttoned back up.

Next I tried to program a new master key and you all know you have to "cycle" the locks over and over but I was never able to get the car into "programming mode". Went to the hardware store afterwards and when I got back to my car the rear left door would not open from the outside. So i reached inside and tried the inside handle and it wouldnt open the door.

I never checked the child safety switch after the actuator motor repair.

So i went to a locksmith and three guys tried for an hour and never could get it open. Then called pop a lock and that guy couldnt get it open.

If you press the auto lock and unlock button the red and brown indicator on the inside moved open and closed like it should so I assume the rod that connects to the yellow plastic clip must of come undone.

Anybody got any ideas on what I can do?????

The rear left door panel has 2 plastic pops on each side, 2 phillips head screws on the bottom, and lastly one bolt that is exposed after you pull the ashtray.

As a last resort I am going to pull the door handle cover off and the ashtray plate and maybe just maybe ill be able to work with it. However, I dont think the panel will come off without damaging it beyond without the door opening.

Any other ideas???

THis is a unique problem to say the least and they usually happen to me.:hhmm:

Those are helpful so I says thanks to you trunk. However, one guy got the panel off fro the inside and the other guy was able to turn off the child safety switch using a self-fabricated slim that he said he heated up and bent for 30 minutes.

Before I try that I need to know if the rod is disconnected to the yellow plastic clip and I think it is, would the inside door handle still open the door if the child lock was off?

Hummm.

Update:

I tried all morning to remove the rear left door panel from the inside of the vehicle which never worked.

I then, as a last resort, cut off the outside handle to better access the area where the rod clips into the plastic yellow connector.

To my surprise I discovered the rod was still connected and moving up and down as designed.

However, I still cant get the door open and am confused on what to do next as I cant repair the problem without being able to open the door.

Any ideas?

Update:

Yes I cut the outside handle off as I was unable to remove the door panel from the inside. Once the outside handle was removed, I could easily access the lock mechanism and push down on a tab to unlock the door.

Next, I opened the door and removed the panel, and then took out the actuator where I discovered that I put the white plastic sleeve on the what plastic arm the wrong way. I got it all buttoned back up and now need a champagne outside door handle and have no idea where to get one thats alrdeady painted.

This small job became a nightmare in a hurry to say the lease but at least now I know where I went wrong and how to mend the problem back the the pre-loss condition.
