I recently noticed a pretty bad leak at the rear pulsation dampener on the fuel rail of my 91 3fe. After a fuel system tear down and rebuild i finally got everything back together. the dampener was replaced along with new factory crush gaskets. Upon start up, the damn thing started leaking gas again. the FSM said 18 ft/lbs to the dampener. of course in order to re-check, i would have to tear the top intake manifold apart again. i saw an older post concerning using a crows foot or a cut down 22mm wrench instead. Should i tighten it more in hopes that it stops? I'm about ready to throw a half pound of gasket maker at it. has anyone else had this problem???

The position of the copper washers is important. IIRC there needs to be one on each side of the fuel rail. FIPG or "gasket maker" won't work on a pressurized system.
And it's a fuel pulsation damper. A wet towel would be a dampener.

thanks jonheld. i knew it was one of three variations starting with damp. I noticed a small cut out machined into the fuel rail and figured the bottom gasket would just naturally fit. I'll have to pull it and see how its lining up although the cutout did seem a bit larger than the washer itself...

I replaced mine without removing the intake. There was foul language and body contortions involved, but it was a successful procedure. I remember the copper washers being a major PITA to get back into place, so I used a dab of grease to keep them from falling out while I was trying to screw the damper back into place. Tightened up with a crows foot wrench and I called it good.

thanks, I've spent half the day looking for a 22mm crows foot and the other half trying to psych myself out to crawl into the engine again to get to that ridiculously fuel line. I'm definitely going to try to take care of it without pulling the intake off again.
