We recently purchased a 2011 Land Cruiser and can't figure out the DVD system for the rear screen. Am I correct, that screen can only be used with a separate dvd player that has to be plugged up to the rear connections with the rca plugs? It just seems that you would be able to play the dvd up front and show it on the rear screen. Am I missing something? Thanks for any assistance.

If it's same as 13' you play DVD from the front, shows on front screen while parked, and rear always as long as you use the rear remote to select the DVD input source. I've never tried, but this tells me the rear can prob show a different source than the front (to the headphones), or the same and have the same audio throughout.

Look for the DVD remote control. Hopefully is't in one of the second row door bins, or in the seat nets...or somewhere.

x2. Mine was hidden in the center armrest console. I've never tried to use an external source, but IIRC from reading the manual years ago, it can be done. I always stick a DVD in the headunit and tell the kids to use the headphones.
Yes - you should have a remote control and a pair of wireless headphones.....although IIRC the kids can plug in wired headphones as well - if the cords are long enough.

This is a great forum. Thanks for all the responses. So I've got my remote and I can't get the back screen to show anything. It drops down with a blue screen but that's it. The movie is playing up front, but I can't get the remote to activate the rear screen. Parking brake is engaged. I've pointed the remote to the front and the console in the back seat and nothing. Does the car have to be moving? I'm sure I'm missing something easy. Thanks again.
We have just picked up 11 Lc and DVD player wants to be controlled by remote from the backseat. We are having a problem where it is asking for a code to play even the most juvenile of shows.

Hello all , the wife has went and spent a fortune on the dvd remote.it seems to do what is required. My new problem is I can have the dvd playing on the front screen ,however when I open the rear screen put it to dvd or video it instantly puts both screens to "reading disc" the menu flicks up for a sec before returning to a blank screen 2009 lc5.
