I am having some sort of problem with my rear door window. The arm that moves the window up and down keeps coming out of its track. It has happened twice in the last two days, and it happened once about six months ago.

This is a 93 80, with power windows.

When I fixed this on saturday, I put the arm back on the track (the track that is attached to the bottom of the window) and tested it by moving the window up and down. When I did this, I noticed that when the window reached just about the half way point, the roller on the end of the arm would hit the end of the track. In fact, the roller would go out of the track about half way before it started to come back into the track.

Make sense?

I moved the window up and down several times with the door panel off, and it never actually popped completely off the track (even though it went halfway off each time)so I figured it was probably ok. Well, it popped off again today, so I guess it was not ok. My guess is that if you stop with the window half way down the arm can bounce out the track. If you are just moving it up and down it might be ok.

Is there some sort of adjustment to stop that? I thought about trying change the position of the track on the glass, but that would require taking the track of the glass-- and I am guessing that it would be a pain.

PS-- this is like the third problem I have had in the last week. I swear, my 80 is having some sort of nervous breakdown.

I ran into the same problem with my old LC on the passenger side rear window. I removed the door panel to try to figure out the cause of the problem and saw the same thing you described. The only thing I could think to do was to slide the track down a little less a 1/4 inch. I removed the glass (with track still attached) and VERY CAREFULLY tapped the track with a hammer to get it to slide a little.

The safer way to reposition the track would be to remove it and reinstall, but it's a pain to do. I had quite a bit of experience reinstalling the track on the driver's side front window - I think that was due to an old gasket (that fits between the track and the glass -- it was not holding the glass in). A little rubber cement fixed the prob with the driver's side window :D

The bracket that is attached to the bottom of the glass has shifted. It will need to be re-postitioned. This has happend to to least 4 or 5 guys at this point.

Hitman (AKA Shortbus) just fixed his a couple days ago, it did not take him very long.

this is what i did because I used to have the same problem, and I did something to the roller track end. I used my dremmel cutting disk to cut a small portion and bend it to inner side, somekind of a blocking tub but first you have to diassemble the track (power window bracket) in order to do that, put it back but and u have to reallign the bracket and test it to make sure it in the right position.
