Hello, and thank you for your time! I am working on my buddy's 1989 LJ73. I am having trouble removing the rear door panel; I'm hooking up a rear view camera. He has double vertical doors (barn doors?) Passenger side is wider than driver side door, this is driver side. Basically a square panel. The entire perimeter pulls right off as the clips were fairly lose, BUT

I can NOT get the handle trim loose. It is crazy tight, only visible screw has been removed. This handle is nearly in the middle of the panel, so I can't see much behind it.

I will add photos later if I can, but wanted to ask ASAP. Please help if possible!

Pictures! Please and thank you for your help!!

Hello,

Did you slide the handle after removing its screw?

Unless you slide the handle and pull it, the panel cannot come out.

For the panel, you can use a trim removal tool. First in the corners, then along the edges.

You can do it with your hand as well.

Pull very gently until the rivet pops. The sound tells you it is loose.

Hope this helps.

Bro, thank you so much! I knew there had to be a trick.

To clarify your statement, while pulling the handle I slid the handle the other way to disengage the clips.

I have attached the clips for future reference.
