Looking at getting a rear bumper w/ tire carrier when I add my lift. I've Been searching around and have found a couple from Slee, MAF, etc. Altough, the ones I've found were nice, they were a bit pricey. Is this to be expected for a quality bumper? Anyone know of any other sources w/ quality yet affordable bumpers. Also pics of what you guys are using is always nice.:)

TIA-

Iron Pig Offroad has them for a decent price, I've been thinking about going that direction when I get mine: http://www.ironpigoffroad.com/60bumpers.htm. He also has a do it yourself tire carrier which is a pretty good deal if you already have a bumper (and can get/fab a swing arm).

I'll have to keep that one in mind, best price yet. Thanks-

Right now im prolly just gonna wait and fab some of my own to go with cutting the quarter panels i want to do, but to me the hot ticket would be getting an iron pig rear bumper unpainted and throw some rust bullet on it, it would be under 250 and stout as hell. I wonder how tough it would be to incorporate more wraparound protection on one of thier bumpers.

get the iron pig. I love mine.
best price, and lance will answer the phone when you call, not like the other places.
i got mine unfinished, since i have a friend who powder-coats. saved myself some bucks.
get it, you'll not be sorry.
you kow, i have to post some pics of it.

I really like the looks of the ironpig bumpers, I'll probably end up going this route. Best price too!!

What kind of setup are you guys using for your license plate? How did you wire in a light, or did you?

I really liked the one with the full quarter protection, i didnt know that it was something that they might offer. That is exactly what i want, my quarters are perfect and if i could leave them alone and still have really stout protection back there id be happy.

I am hoping to go custom with mine. Check and see if anyone local can make one for you. Even J**p guy can build stuf. If they are a good fabricator and you get them tons of pics etc then they can usually do it no sweat. I am like yo uI would rather get a great deal and have extra $ to spend on other protection.

Whatever you do, I say go with something with 1/4 protection. Whether you cut them or not. (I will be cutting b/c I have rust low on my 1/4.

Yeah, i had planned on just making one from 2x4 tubing and just taking my time and cutting the quarters straight across and putting like a 45 degree downward bend on it, and then a nice little fold at the bottom. On ths other hand, if i could get adequate protection from an extra long form-fitting side extension like the 4x4labs or iron pig ones, i could leave my pretty quarters alone and be able to return it to stock if i ever feel like taking a different direction with my 60. Plus they look trick as hell.

From this thread. The 4x4labs bumpers are sweet!! I want :D

That's what I want to design my bumper after. Actually I want to build pretty much an identical bumper. Mainly because I can't afford to buy one of theres, and I want to church myself up on frabrication skills.

I would love to be able to fab my own, and save money. I have all the tools available to me at work in the metal shop, just no skills in this department. I really need to learn how to weld, I've been meaning to get in the shop to try and teach myself, just haven't gotten around to it.:frown:

That's kinda where I'm at too. They've got a (beat up) MIG welder at the auto shop on base, and a cutting torch as well. And there are plenty machine shops I can get scrap steel from to build it. I really just need to find out an effective way to design everything and just build up my skills from there. I really wish I could've won that internship at Blue Torch Fab :frown:
