I am somewhat confident that the frame of a pre-2K year Hilux has the same (or close) dimensions/etc. as that of the same year US config pickup. I've owned both at the same time (a '92 PU and a '98 Hilux) and the measurements I took seemed the same.

My Hilux has a weird trailer hitch (it appears to be a hitch - it has a round receiver instead of square) that hangs down quite a bit.

I want to replace it with a bumper that has a conventional square receiver. I've been shopping on FB MP (to save $) for both front and rear bumpers and have yet to find one that meets my reqs.

This morning I noticed a bumper for a first gen 4 runner that has a hitch. I am wondering if it would fit:

Thoughts?

TIA

the width is the same. the 4Runner hangs lower than pu to clear the tailgate.

that one almost looks built for a body lift or chopped rear. might be just right for a truck.

4runner also mounts inside the rails vs outside. not really a huge deal, just another note.

By this you mean the bumper hangs lower?

Q: Something I forgot; the side tubes - will those tubes that wrap around the side clear the rear body of the bed of the pickup?

This bumper is relatively close to me, and cheap so I can fairly easily go to check it out. I am going to remove the hitch I have first.

Thanks!

Very useful info.

yes. the bumper sits a little lower.

side bars depend on how it was built.

might be worth hitting the guy up for installed pictures for a better idea of what you're getting into.
