Crossover parts between '98 JDM Hilux & US config "pickups", first gen Tacoma, T100??

I'd be very curious about frame differences between your 1998 and my 1997-older luxes.

I don't know if the front IFS stuff is the same.
I am in the process of getting some studded tires for my '98. When I take the wheels off I will take & post some pics of the suspension/etc.

That Hilux extracab body looks like a mashup with a early 90's pick up, a Tacoma and T100 (larger "xtra cab"). If you have torsion bars they may match 4wd T100 parts, and some 4Runners

I was trying some wheels/tires (265/70-17) so I took some photos of the suspension:

I did not crawl under to confirm torsion bar, but I assume that because there are no coil or leaf springs, that there are torsion bars.

Wacky. Good to know
Just to clarify, I don't know that T100/4Runner parts fit, but if I had a Hilux here I would be looking closely at ToyoDiY and measuring to see what might be good substitutions. There is so much interchange between parts that I can't imagine some of the same era trucks wouldn't share components, especially in regards to brakes, suspension and running gear. As an example there are tons of little trim bits/parts that interchange between my 86 70 series land cruiser and my 99 Tacoma. And Corolla parts are a gold mine for little things that cross over.

these are the torsion bars.
i assume these parts interchange with the 86-95 mini/4runner stuff like we talked about already. you can verify part numbers and interchange using Toyodiy.com.
t100 stuff uses longer arms and axles because of the additional track width (66") vs (58" for torsion trucks)

Q: with the G52 transmission, what is the model for the transfer case?

I noticed a US shop (Sky's Offroad) manufactures a transfer case mounted driveline disc emergency brake kit that is supposed to be better than the Terrain Tamer kit.

it's the rf1a case.

imo a proper stock ebrake is the way to go.
Thanks. I will research it.

IME, while the rear brakes on both my Hilux and US market pickups are adequate (the rear tires will lockup while driving, at least when the bed is empty), I have found that the emergency brakes don't really hold the pickup very well, even on a slight incline. Maybe I need to tighten the cable (assuming there is some part of the system that allows that). But I have read that this is common for older Toy pickups.

Also, I am considering converting the rear brakes to discs, not so much for more braking power, but more to get away from the drums filling up with mud, or freezing when parked when it gets cold (like it is now). I live on a mountain and there is not many places to park on my driveway that are not on an incline, so I generally use the ebrake when I park my rigs (along with putting it in gear) - since I don't want my vehicles to pop out of gear and hit my shop or roll down my property and hit my neighbor's buildings/etc.

Ok, so looking into it, the RF1a case is common to many years of US config pickups. That is good to know either way.
