I came across these via a Google image search, but cannot identify the manufacturers. I'm interested in using them in my build, if possible.

Can anyone ID them?

The rear looks like a Kaymar bumper and the bullbar looks like the one toyota sell as an option. They have been doing that for 30 years, we think ARB make them especially for Toyota Australia , because they don't seem pop up in other countries.

Here is an alloy one similar in shape to the one in your pic but without a winch, although it looks lik one can be fitted.

The Kaymar bumper, yours seems to have a few extra bits attached

Thanks,

I thought the front one came from Toyota. I wasn’t sure about the rear, but was thinking Kaymar but the highjack lifts on the side seemed odd.

I live in Japan and the only ones available here are from ARB but they have to be imported from Australia. With that said, I‘d rather find a way to import something else from Australia on my own instead of going through ARB Japan.

If anyone knows of any manufacturers that will ship overseas, I’d appreciate any info.

Pretty sure my front ARB is a Toyota model. I was told it was an option from Toyota. ARB didn’t have any information on the bumper other than it was an older model and definitely an ARB. It’s an upright 8274 mount.

Mine came out of brisbane, Torque Toyota.

Front is Toyota branded/optioned ARB. Rear is Kaymar, older style (or repo knockoff) from the looks.

Contact @wardharris for the rear bar.

First hand, the kaymar is mint equipment.

The rear bar does not have the typical Kaymar latches, spindles or corner treatments. It has to be something else.

You’re right Dan, recovery points and hitch aren’t right for old kaymar too.

I agree; the rear is either a Kaymar or a blatant copy

On second thoughts, I think its a copy. The brake and indicator lights are closer to the corners than the Kaybar. When you look at them closely, there are enough differences to avoid a s***fight in court.

I think its this Thorburns and Sons (Melbourne) bumper

Wait, 2019 troopy? In japan?

Hello,

Either he has the right connections or he managed to re-import it.

Regardless of the method, it is good to see a Troopy in that part of the world.

Yes, I re-imported it. And at great cost! It's so rare here that my wife was telling me how so many people were staring on the way home from the dealer. So far I'm very happy with how it handles. It's got plenty of power, but that may be reduced as things are added.

Japan is the only country that I know that if you are willing to jump through the hoops - anything can be driven on the roads here. I have seen go-carts on the streets in Tokyo. Tiny little motorcycles and just about any mo-ped configuration. Now why in the hell can't countries like the US do the same? Politics? I don't know. But I will say that Japan has a very strict inspection system! And for most cars that's every 2 - 3 years. In my case, first time will be 2 years and then after that every year, which means that I will have to take it to the dealer, etc., to have it inspected. That's at least a 2 week process. Again, hoops and lots of them. I also had to change my driver's license to a manual license. So again, if a person is willing to jump through the hoops just about anything can be driven on the roads here. This was a 4 month process and I had to push the dealer to get everything taken care of before October 1st - Abe-san in great wisdom just increased the sales tax rate to 10%.

Just picked it up Saturday and started working on the inside. I still have a lot to do, but I'll have to do a little at a time.

The motorcycle in the background is a 2014 BMW R1200GSA that I just paid off. Low mileage, since I have two young children that really enjoy camping.

You may wonder how I can afford all of this - see the house in the background. I built it with my own two hands and probably saved at least $200,000. Small by overseas standards, but more than big enough for the four of us. It's two stories with a loft.

No, imported from Dubai. And the most basic model. It had parallel rear seats that I had to remove so that I could install the boxes and sleeping platform.

By the way, any idea where I can find the rear front facing folding seat that you guys have in Australia? I asked my dealer but he didn't seem to know.

The bullbars pictured are the genuine bullbars, I did the development of them onto the current vehicles. They are both winch compatible and not officially available in Japan. Toyota Japan has from time to time imported them and fitted at the factory for fleet orders (Forestry, emergency vehicles etc), unless you know the right person at Toyota Japan it would be very difficult. Work taking the part number to your dealer, you never know.

ARB bars are readily available in Japan.

Hulsty,

I think you did a great job. They look really nice and I'm sure that they would more than suit my needs

ARB is easily obtained here. The problem is that there is a middle man. I tried contacting him directly, but he says that I have to go through one of his dealers (my dealer). As with every thing here, importing anything increases the cost and then having to go through a middle man just adds to the cost. For example, Mystery Ranch is now being sold in Japan. Several years ago I had a look at the Japanese website. They were jacking up the cost more than $250 on a $300 backpack. I understand taxes and profit, but that is ridiculous!

I guess I will have a look elsewhere on the front bullbar. I don't have any contacts here. Or may just throw up my hands and go with an ARB.

ARB are not the only bullbar manufacturer, Ironman make some decent looking bullbars and probably dont have any dealers in Japan
