I'm in the process of finally putting my 81 BJ42 back together. I'm just not quite sure how the rear brakes hook up. It has the load sensor proportioning valve that mounts on the frame and the line goes down to the axle. Well I remember that 2 brake lines ran back there and I just don't know how to hook them up to the valve. There are 2 places on the side where they tie in. I just need to know the line that is actually running to the rear, where does it thread into and the front brakes run back there too and I don't know where to thread them in. If any has a diagram of this or knows what I'm talking about and can help I would appreciate it.

Ok, I'm confused, I can't find any proportioning valves that mount to the frame, they all seem to go on the firewall. Is that what you meant?

Depending on your the country, your setup should look like one of these (the meat and potatoes being that the line to the rear axle attaches to the bottom of the valve, and the front axle to the side of the valve):
frdiskvalve.webp
frdiskvalve2.webp

No luck yet. Yeah if you can look and let me know I would appreciate. The proportioning valve definetly mounts on the rear part of the frame by the rear axle. According to the service manual, it is load sensing so I assume the more load or less controls and orfice inside this thing to allow more or less brake fluid through for stopping power.

No the proportioning valve definetly mounts on the rear part of the frame. My 79 BJ40 has the proportioning valve mounted to the brake booster. This 81 BJ42 originally came from Belgium then to Canada and then down to the states.

Mine is on the firewall also !

My truck does not have one but do i really need one? I have disk front and drum rear and a single reservior brake master, i used to have a twin reserviors brake master but i seized so i replace with a new one.

If i install the brake line directly from the master to the brakes without the proportional valve , is ok or not?

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread...
