I have a 1987 LJ70, 2.4 LD. The truck is in Nicaragua, and I need to get a new set of rear brake drums. I have a make and part number DELPHI Part # BF353 Total Br. Drum Height [mm]: 74.00; Number of Holes: 6; Inner Br. Drum Diam. [mm]: 254.00; For shaft diamater from [mm]: 91.00. Does anyone know where I can get these in the states? They are $350 for a pair in Nicaragua, and I am hoping to save some bucks by getting them.

Hi All:

Humm . . . you used the internet to access MUD and start this thread . . . .

Try Google next (just saying  ) Seriously, it works really well.

Good luck with your LJ70 (especially the 2L engine!!)

It amazes me that people need to make snide comments. I hope it made you feel good posting it . My question was about getting these drums in the USA. I used google and came up with the same link. If you had bothered to look a little further you would have seen that those would be shipped from Europe for something like $110 shipping. Maybe next time you will be a little more thoughtful with your posts.

Regards,

Alex

Hang in there, someone will probably come along and provide the information you seek ( without the commentary ). Rookie bashing is almost irresistible to some forum members however the majority are more than willing to help.

Maybe he could take his 100 series attitude and post it in the 100series section.

Thanks, I hope so. The initial poster came across as a real a$$hole. I spent a ton of time searching for these drums on the internet and using the search function on this and other related forums. Maybe I should have stated that in the post, but I don't think it was neccessary.

Hi All:

Alex, call me an a$$hole if you like, but what you asked was where can I get these in the states? I provided you a source. Intl. shipping on parts for a non-North American market car located in the USA - not really a big surprise.

Sorry if my post rubbed you the wrong way. We get noobies posting all the time that don't seem to understand the "search" function, or how easy Google works.

Regards,

Alan

Yeah you came off as an arogant and presumptious wisea$$. Do you really think that everyone that asks a question on a forum hasn't tried using the search function or spent time on the internet searching for the item they want? The phrase in the states meant buy them in the states, not have them shipped to the states.

Anyway apology accepted.

Your Vin would be handy as well!

I've been on the forum for quite a while and although the search function has worked for me in finding various things. As a whole I think the search function on any forum pretty much sucks, you always get a ton of results and very few if any answers... I esepecially h8 waiting to search again when you get no results... I would much rather use google and be directed back to the site (which is what seems to usually happen) often I come up with an answer quicker...

It's always been a PITA to find parts for these old trucks and now that toyota north america seems to be slowly discontinuing everything it's getting much worse... I always try 4 wheel auto and G&S for most things, if they can't help, I just post a thread or call the stealership (lately they've been no help)

Anyway just thought I would add my 2 cents!

Here is the VIN and the model number. I have pretty much given up on getting them here in the states and taking them down with me this Christmas. I will buy a new set there, and pay the local price. It is good for the local economy anyway.

I would say you got a warm welcome Alex.

Yes a nice warm welcome:). I have been a car and motorcylce enthusiast my entire life. I have a 2008 Corvette Z06, a 1967 Mustang, a 1967 BSA Lightning, a cusom chopper with a 2.1 liter v twin, and now the landcruiser. I am also a member of many online car and bike forums, and know how to search the internet and online forus, so the mini-lecture rubbed me the wrong way. I have an advanced degree in physics and am a senior engineer with a large engineering firm. I have designed and built sensors that have are used on the Hubble telescope and in UAV's. I have never nor will I ever respond to anyone's questions in such a manner. It is in short just rude and inconsiderate.

Anyway those that posted information trying to help, I appreciate it. Who knows maybe I will be able to find a set before I head down to Nicaragua at Christmas. If not I will pay whatever is the local price, I think it is around 250 to 300. It will support the local economy anyway.

Unless you were born with a thousand "post", everyone was a
"newbie" at some point and probably did not have a mastery of the web site or search function. I know I ask my share of stupid questions ( and occasionally still do ) however despite some good natured ribbing was never treated rudely.
