are you Mexican?...my Mexican friends have a never ending joke that their parents would scold them for ever thinking AC ever existed or was an option because windows were free and more than enough. I'm being serious...

He doesn't live in the part of Texas that has insane humidity or else he wouldn't be spewing that nonsense. My family is Mexican and uses the s*** out of the AC. If the windows are down it's because the AC is broke or I'm in an area where it's actually cool outside.

I guess it started in high school when I had a Jeep with no AC. You get used to not having it.

Not sure this is helpful, but we had our family of seven plus three dogs in the 80 a few days ago with the heat index over 100F. It takes a few minutes of driving to cool everything down, but a properly working and optimized AC cools the 80 just fine. Steps below...

-have a professional AC shop service your AC
-simple green and power wash the condenser
-ensure the heater valve on the firewall closes all of the way
-mod your fan clutch
-add a condenser fan

This is my third 80 and I have done all of those things to the various trucks with differing results--my current 80 does not have the condenser fan or a modded fan clutch and it has the best AC of the three---takeaway here is that the first three steps are key, last two are useful if you want it even colder.

It all depends on your external conditions ..

My dual AC it's in top notch condition .. altho I have no window tint and with almost perpendicular Sun Light / UV and 84°F and up average temps ( easy 120°F can be read on my inside temp gauge ) with 90% relative humidity .. your AC can't only do that much.

I tried fitting a Previa overhead unit behind the sunroof bump in the headliner, but the unit was a couple inches short of reaching the sides if the 80. Attaching it to the roof would also be difficult since the Previa support bar wouldn't fit. I'm sure someone could make it work with enough work and fabrication. I think a better solution would be to use a Red Dot R6830 or R7830 evaporator, except is would take up some space on the rear floor.

Here are some pics of mine. Will post pics of the rear A/C when I get the chance.
