So I am in the middle of changing the brakes on my wife's 2007 VW Jetta and it turns out these darn German cars use some weird stuff. I need a 14mm triple square bit to remove the caliper bracket. Anybody happen to have one of these suckers that I could borrow? I have tried all the local auto parts stores and most do not even know what I am talking about!

If anyone has one of these and would be willing to loan it to me, please call 865-712-5084. Thanks.

something like this?

funky.

Think advanced auto rents them out. Go with a picture in hand cause they never know what i'm talking about.

Is it a torq bit? Most auto places as well as home depot and lowes carries them. Just have that preggo wife of yours get it so you can stay at home and drink more beer :)

Well, after searching all the local auto parts stores including sears, no one has the right size in stock. Some of the stores did have a set of these bits, but they did not include the 14mm size I need. So I ordered a set online and it should arrive in the next two days or so. Wife is gonna have to put up with squealing brakes until then.

After searching online, these things are called a couple of names. Either triple square, WZN, or even refered to as an inverted bit. They are essentially the inside of a 12 point socket. If a socket is considered female, these would be the male conterpart. From what I understand, they are used in places where a lot of torque is required. - you can bet I am excited about trying to get these things loose. It also seems that these types of heads are most commonly found on German automobiles - working on my wife's VW Jetta is definitely expanding my tool set!

Thanks for the help and interest.

I know it's too late now but I had to buy a set of these when changing the seat belt bracket on my 02 GTI. Found them at the Pep Boys in Manassas.
