Real Time Help: Dist O-Ring

Hi:

I am re-installing my dist and I am trying to install the small o-ring. I have the SOR part 022-41B for my stock smoged 1985 FJ60. But there is no place this thing seems to fit and what I think is the o-ring on the shaft is hard as nails so I not sure if it is plastic ring. Please look at the photos and let me know. The FSM is not clear on this either and the SOR diagram shows it next to the timing gear but there is no spot for it. Thanks

Cut off the old hard one, lube new one with clean oil and install
