It has that MDX look that is not cool at all. It is the huge wrap around plastic bumpers.

I am going to reserve my final thoughts after I see it for real. Here are two comments after seeing these pics.---The rear side window needs to extend farther back --The D pillar looks to thick ! Also, I'm going to sound like John McEnroe here but "You can't be serious, you can't remove the 3rd row seats ?" That being said I think I am going to like it once the "newness" wears off. Stiil, I am cross shopping a 2008 Range Rover S/C with this thing and the LC does have a significant price advantage..

How is it possible that with all those pictures, not one was even on dirt?

You are right that D pillar and window combination is what makes it look like a friggin Highlander. BIG mistake. Why they wouldn't carry the window further back (for more of a greenhouse look) like all the previous generations is beyond me. Also lacking the previous generations' wind deflector on the back panel and the High/Low shifter inside.

There is no comparison in a looks department to a SC RR. Just depends how much free time you have your hands to visit the LR dealer. Also, I like the LX570 interior better than the LC.

hey i am surprised i thought the lc would get the hyd susp but the center consl has none of the switches seen in the lx pics????? any ideas?

I believe the LC has it however the switches are in different places. The LX copied the RR.

If we lived in a world where the Highlander didn't exist, I would say the design shares similar characteristics to the 80. I would like more ground clearance and the interior appointments still look cheap for what they are going to ask for in price.

Remove the running boards and ignore the bloated lights and you may have something to marvel at.

plus the highlander came along and obviously attempted to mimic the look of the LC. Definitely not the other way around. We all know the Highlander is a pretender in all senses.

Concerning the Highlander....I have covered this on the Thread "newest pictures" post #44-- Here it is once again>>>>>

"You are pretty much spot on about the Highlander. For a Highlander it looks pretty good, I just don't want it to look like a 3/4 scale Land Cruiser. Some family resemblance (like a grill, etc..) between models is OK, but something as iconic as the Land Cruiser should have its own identity. When you see a Range Rover you don't confuse it with a Freelander. At least I don't. Land Rover has done a very good job ( IMO) in keeping the Range Rover very recognizable and true to its lineage of past models. Same thing as with a Corvette and the 911(except for the 996 series). When you see one you know right off what it is. Toyota will be making a huge mistake if they dilute the Land Cruiser's identity too much. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when they start hitting showroom floors....."

In all seriousness, I find it difficult to believe someone would confuse the 2008 LC and 2008 Highlander in person. Some of these pictures just do not do the vehicle justice.

Although I will admit that f*ing goofy tail that Toyota insists on does cause some confusion as well as the thick D pillar (still think that is a huge mistake).:crybaby:

This will happen more than one could imagine. Particularly with your casual viewer.
