I am looking to install some longfield/rcv birfs in my 40 series but I have a problem that I have a BJ70 series front housing with a cable locker.
I can get a Longfield super set and a longfield inner axle with a long spline.
I can get a RCV ultimate set but don't know if there is any long spline inners in the country. I'm in New Zealand and with Covid etc there is starting to get a short supply of bits.
I am looking to enter an event at the end of April so I don't want to risk being caught out with slow freight.
So my question to the collective is are the RCV birfields compatible with the Longfield inners. I understand the splines are standard but is the retaining grove in the same place???
Or am I best to stick with the same manufacturer, ie Longfields
The vehicle is a 1982 FJ40 with a 5.0l Holden V8 (injected) manual transmission running 35" Simex tyres. lunch box locker in rear, cable locker in front. Not the most powerful or biggest tyres but it does eat standard CV's, hence the upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated.
