on the road again....
I bought a Ipad during the sales recently to download maps. Mine is the 9.7 inch.

I was wondering if the suction cup mounts hold that weight Ipad ok or what people have found to work best....or if there is something else I should consider.

Thanks as always,
Jim

Can you post a photo from your rig? I’m curious what it looks like and where it attaches. That link is just the arm, what other pieces do you need?

As soon as I get to the truck I'll post one. You'll need a longer bolt (quick and cheap trip to the hardware store) and the Ipad cradle. Those two pieces are all you need beyond allen keys and a wrench to assemble.

yeah I am confused too. Where does that attach? You also need the grip or the fingers things that holds it don't you?
Guess I should run to walmart and not be so lazy and look at them. :))

Thanks

yeah my question too...especially since I don't have the mini.

I'm not sure how this would work on a pre-'16, but for '16-'19 LCs the Apple iPad Smart Folio cover has strong magnets that hold the iPad securely to the OEM nav screen when folded back over the top of the dashboard. the black folio cover looks OEM on the black dash too. See link below. This has obvious limitations and isn't for everyone, but I really like it.

seems like some big pieces of velcro tape would work....really hold it firmly to the dash. Just popped in my mind. I haven't leeked at the space and really checked if there is an area that would work. I have also seen them in videos mounted from above ....something like that. Not sure how that would work. I need to look at the various ram mount parts....I guess there are other companies too.

hey yeah.......I think I could make something like that work even if my 2014 is a bit different. Food for thought. Thanks

I stuck a couple magnetic mounts on my dash -- Markuson turned me on to them. The two mounts held my iPad secure even while going up and down Imogene.

Ya, if you have the early version of the 200 dash, four magnets mount an iPad over the CD player area (which I never use) and it is 100% movement-free.

No the magnet thing won't work with mine. t covers too many buttons on the left side. I've seen them mounted out in front of the dash and a bit lower and over to the right. I'll have to look at some Ram mount stuff and figure something that will work.

Movement of the tablet is minimal Offroad. The flexible arm is an alloy that does a good on of staying put but flexible enough for ideal placemwnt

perfecto....yes I think that is the one I have seen before and was thinking of. Thanks.....

I have this same mount on my 100. Worked well but shook too much off road. I added a c-clamp to secure the arm into center console, effectively cutting in half the unsupported distance of the arm. Now it works great. Another nice benefit is that if you don't completely tighten the bracket at the arm but rather leave it pretty snug, you can rotate the bracket and Ipad b/w passenger and driver.

No mount needed. Ipad cover shoved under the dash mat. Couple of bulldog clips used when offroad. Runs HEMA maps, Netflix, View attachment 1883632

Similar to what I did before I switched to this using magnets:

Zero movement, and only blocks my unused CD player.
