Fellow Cruiser fans:

I regret to inform you that due to uncontrollable circumstances, I am closing Rainman’s Brake Lines for an indeterminate amount of time. Issues have arrived that prevent me from being able to spend the time needed to keep up with demand and research in making and improving my products. If things change, I will repost with updated information.

Thanks for all the interest and support so many of you have given me.

New to the vendors forum. I'm creating FJ40 brake line kits. Buy the full kit, partial kit or even by line. I'm still in the development stage for the goal of having all lines for all years of US left hand drive models. I've got a few more to go but I'm almost there. I have all but 2 mastered for the early to 7/70 trucks. I have the rear axle lines for 7/70 to 9/75 with information on the way for more. From there I have all lines available up to 8/80 and only 3 lines to go for the rest. My website is updated as lines become available.

Are you restoring a FJ40? Renewing the brake system because it's rotten? Too many leaks to worry with the old system? I've found that some notable businesses are offering kits that don't even fit. I purchased a kit from a very large company and of the 13 lines that go on a '77, only 3 where usable after I tweaked them. The rest were worthless. That's why I'm in business. I strive to create the best, longest lasting, easiest to work with lines available for the Land Cruiser. All NiCopp lines and plated nuts for long life.

Guys, you wont go wrong buying Rainman's brake lines... Fit like they should and look terrific.
Don't think anyone could duplicate his quality for the price.. A+++++++
PS look at his posters too.

Here are the working lists for what I have right now. I'm getting new information just about weekly. As I get more lines solved I'll update the charts here and the website.

All lines in Red are available.

Can you do a dual disc brake kit? I have mini truck discs front and Monte Carlo/GMC in the rear. Would need proportioning valve

I can make anything I can get a pattern for. Right now I don't have patterns for the mini calipers. I haven't gotten to the rear disc conversions but that doesn't mean we can't figure something out. I'm up for figuring out any and all of the options for the FJ40. If you're in a hurry I may not be the best option. It takes some time to get these thing right from scratch. PM me and lets see if we can figure this out.

I'd love to make lines for the 45s. I just don't have any way to make sure I have what they need. Now saying that, lets look at it by section.

Front axle lines - They should all be the same. Right?
From the MC. - Same.
Chassis line - Would that be the same only much longer? What about the dog leg at the back end?
Rear axle - How many come with full floaters vs standard? What are the differences in the brake lines?

sounds like you have your work cut out for yah! lol. Yah all should be the same up until the frame dog leg i would think

Isaac,

What year is the truck mm/yy?
I'm guessing there are plugs or bolts in the line inlet hole on the rear calipers. I'll need to know where the hole is (in relation to the axle housing) for the lines on the disc conversion.
Looks like your lines are not in place in the front. Similar to the FJ40 lines other then the top of the line on the 40s ends up horizontal at the top not vertical.

This is all doable with the right information.

not in a huge hurry

The truck is a 1969 model (built 10/68) but other than the frame, front axle housing, and body nothing is original. There are no brake lines in place anywhere on the truck. The rear axle is JDM FF, the calipers are 85 Monte Carlo (the ones NOT painted red), that is the banjo bolt fitting you can see at the top. The front knuckles are 79-85 mini truck, I do have the piece of hard line that runs between the caliper and flex hose. I am using FJ60 Master cylinder on a mini truck brake booster, and will need a proportion valve plumed in.

HAhahahaAHHAa.. This sounds like, "Here's a puzzle with half of the pieces missing and I don't have the box top..."

So I'm guessing you're running a late model MC or something. What depth booster?

Straight up. If I can get accurate measurements for all the lines that will change due to your build, I can get you a complete kit.

Are you doing anything for the 6x series? I have an hj61 that needs some lines.

Not yet. The initial goal is to have all the lines for all the US-left hand drive-gas FJ40s. Then the FJ45s since they are so close. I have found a source that can reference the lines that are common to the other Cruisers like the 55s and 60/62s. Once the FJ40s are covered I'll assess whats going on and see if I can get the 60s covered. I can't make any promises. If this biz made me a fair amount of cash I'd be more focussed on all the trucks but it just doesn't... yet. I just like working on Cruisers and helping others that do to.

Thanks for all the interest and support so many of you have given me. The Cruiser community never ceases to amaze me. Feel free to post or email or call me. I'm not going anywhere and will be able to respond but the Brake Line shop (in the basement) just needs to be closed for a while.
