Got a weird one. On my 2010 lx570 the volume knob is acting weird. Almost every time I go to turn the volume up with the knob the volume decreases and vice versa when I try to lower it the volume increases. Works fine with volume switch on the steering wheel. Not a big deal just bizarre. Anyone experience this?

I have the exact same problem (also on a 2010 LX), will watch this thread to see if anyone has identified a solution that doesn't involve replacing the whole stereo.

I've got a 2010 LX and also have this issue. A couple of years ago I had the Lexus dealer take a look and they said the unit needed to be replaced. I passed on that and just use the volume controls on the steering wheel. Hopefully someone comes up with a fix that doesn't require total replacement.

i have the same problem on my 2010 LX and my 2008 Camry. i just use the steering wheel controls.
Any chance the Camry has a premium-trim (XLE?) audio system or just whatever tape/CD deck they put into base models?

I'm wondering whether this has to do with communication between the head unit and ML system in LX570s.. odd that no Cruisers are mentioned so far with their JBL Entune audio. And that they are ALL 2010 LXs, now that I re-read.

its a base model LE with standard audio, nothing special.

Unfortunately I get to be the contrarian here. 2011 Land Cruiser with the same symptoms described by the LX owners. It’s been something I’ve noticed for a couple of years.

I also recently lost all audio in favor of static no matter the input source. DVD audio plays through the entertainment headphones just fine. Currently determining next steps.

Wow. I thought I was going to get laughed at creating this post. I guess I'm not alone

damn.

My 2011 has similar issues, but it's not always backwards. Kind of has a mind of its own and you end up fighting it to get it to do what you want. I just use steering wheel control as others have said.

My 2010 used to do this until I had the amplifier rebuilt.

Nope, had it rebuilt because it gave up the ghost and I lost all audio. Fixing the volume knob was unintended.
Was your audio replaced with static noise when the amp stopped working?

For those viewing with an early LC, 08-11, I believe it’s less expensive to purchase a used amp versus sending it to one of the outfits that rebuilds the Levinson and later LC amps.

How much did it cost and who fixed it?
I think it was like $300, cheaper because my LX was a pioneer and not mark levinson system. OEM audio inc out of new york did it, they have a bunch of services on ebay.

No, just silence. Would slowly get quieter and then completely die. After sitting for a couple hours it'd come back for a couple minutes and do the same thing.

Curious... does it do the backwards volume on all sources? Radio, Bluetooth, USB, Sirius, etc?

My 2011 had a weird behavior where the sound would sometimes stop if using Bluetooth, as in the music would Pause. If I turned the volume up or down one notch, it would start playing again. Never figured it out, it was random and infrequent. Didn't do it on the other sources.

Yes multiple sources experience the volume situation
