Radio/Amp Noise - Help Needed

A few months ago, my radio/amp started to develop a buzz type of noise. It is intermittent and has occurred more frequently lately. I would like to fix it but have no idea where to start looking.

The following is a short list of things that I observed,

1. The buzz is motor related - no noise when motor is switched off.
2. The noise does not appear to be RPM related.
3. The noise grows bigger when the head lights are switched on.
4. Sometimes, I said sometimes, the buzz went away when the CDL is thurned on and off one time. Other times, this did not do the trick.
5. The noise is present when the radio/CD is turned on, even when it is not tuned in any FM stations or no CD is played.

Please share your exeperience and opinions.

try re-grounding it with a bigger gauge wire to bare metal.

I'm having the same exact problem and am guessing it's because it's a 14 year old factory system.
A bad ground seems to be a usual culprit but at this point I'd rather upgrade to something newer.

I always prefer the factory look and threfore still very interested in having this resolved.

+1 on the grounds. You may need to rewire as well.
