I know this has been covered a 1000 times, but im gonna throw it out there anyways...im just about done with the sbc swap in the cruiser, im using an aa adapter to my 4 speed, im cheap and didnt want to get my drivelines adjusted, so i cut the firewall out a bit and moved the engine back a little. my question is, my radiator is already in the trash, so i need a new one, i can get a stock radiator for 152 bucks, and was thinking of a taurus fan since my engine fan would be quite aways back. or i can upgrade to an aluminum radiator that is larger than stock for around 300 bucks, they sell them here in san diego for jeep and landcruiser conversions, just have to fab up brackets, and they said dent the headlight bezels in a bit?? ive read all the other posts on radiators, like i said just throwin it out there, dont know where id be without all the knowledge here on ih8mud, well i wouldnt be close to havin the pig done thats for sure, lol. thanks in advance

I used my original toyota rad for years with my sbc. A fan shroud made it work perfect. I also used a flex fan with an extension.

If it were me and it was about a month ago. I would go to eBay and pick up an Alum Rad for under $200 shipped. Get a 22 inch and you won't have to deal with the headlights or anything. Just fab up some mounting brackets and you're good to go. Friend did the same thing with his SBC and we're both happy. I replace my factory rad. because they're going to keep giving you issues..

Spacer

You can also get a spacer that will bring the fan off the enigine closer to the rad and get a good shroud.

Here's a pic of a MKVIII on a 26" radiator from AFCO. No shroud req'd.
