I developed a very small leak in the radiator of my stock 73 FJ40. The leak is at the top right side of the radiator (opposite side of the cap) and is pooling in the top lip and dripping off. I tried some Bars and it worked for a week or so but then began leaking again. I talked to the folks at Bars and they said that their product has a hard time with leaks along the top of the radiator because if the coolant gets low, the product no longer makes contact with the leak. So I called a local radiator repair shop and they gave me a quote over the phone of $65 for the standard clean and repair. The radiator looked to be in good condition from the front but when I pulled it, it looks as though it's been patched several times in the rear. Am I right, are these patches?
Given the condition of the radiator, should I attempt to repair this one or just replace it? For replacement, I've seen several options...
