Hi folks,

Hi folks,

I recently bought an LN106 Hilux, non-turbo 3L, 2.8Liter diesel 4WD, 5-speed manual transmission.

Engine, transmission, including 4x4, seem to be working very well, but I'm in the process of reconditioning it. Will keep you posted on my progress.

I hope you could help me with a couple of challenges:
  1. I do not know what lift it has, and
  2. Apparently the previous owner jerry-rigged the rear shock mounts in order to fit what seems to be the original shocks (now too short).
I hope you could help me determine how much lift it has and find the proper shocks for it. If you know what lift your truck has, may I ask you to take some measurements so I can compare with current setup of this truck?

I would need:
  1. Rim to wheelwell arch front and rear.
  2. Bottom of frame to top of rear differential
  3. Center of top shock mount to center of bottom shock mount
  4. Front suspension seems fine. Although I would also like to know upper shock mount to center of lower shock mount.
Thanks in Advance!

Thank you in advance!

I will try to get some measurements on my truck tonight. I have a 1990 LN106 with a 2.5" dobinsons lift (installed properly, not whatever happened with this P/O).

Will report back.

Wheel arches (31x12.5r15 tires, will be fitting 33s soon).

Front: 10.75 "

Rear: 11.5 "

Bottom of frame to top of rear axle- I misread this and my measurement was taken to the bottom of the metal bump stop: 12"

Front shock top mount to bottom mount bolt: 17"

Also, I am running dobinsons leaf springs front and rear, along with upgraded shackles. They are part of the dobinsons 2.5" lift. It looks like your leaf springs are the factory ones.

Thanks a lot, @GreenPump !
Table below gives me a better idea of my current lift. I hope it would not be much trouble to ask you for a couple more things to confirm:
Wheelwell arch to Rim measurements. Do you have 15-inch rims as well?
Bottom of frame to top of axle housing.
Please also share pictures of upper rear shock mounts. I need to verify which ones are stock.

Thank you very much, @AirheadNut!
Link makes sense. My LN106 is a 1996. Paint Code is 751. Color looks similar to other trucks.
