Good day guys, I have been searching on the forum for some ideas regarding a radar detector mount on the LC.

I was hopping to use something like the one on the following link
http://store.blendmount.com/lx-470-c512.aspx
But my LC has no cylindrical rear view mirror mount.
I have a Valentine 0ne detector. The easy thing to do and what I do in my other cars is just use the suction cup mounts.
But since my LC has armored glass, it has a policarbonate coating on the inside that with suction cup pressure it leaves marks that could be there permanently.
I used my GPS for a Day and it lef a giant round mark on the glass. Fortunately it has gone away.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

what about a visor mount?

Thats where mine is mounted as well. I have yet to hardwire it because I rarely use it. My Passport is almost useless in the city and speed limits around here have gone up to the point where I rarely need one.....that being said, I did get a ticket recently but I was in my wife's Jag.

I have a V1 as well. I paid to have mine installed. You can see how mine was done by the pictures. Let me know if you have any questions....

What's up with your mirror?

It's an old Donnelly auto dim mirror. It's broken. They were infamous for having the liquid leak down the mirror. I have a new Gentex mirror that's an auto dim as well. Just haven't had time to replace it. Need a new windshield as well so I will do it all at the same time.

To the OP, sorry I didn't read your message close enough to see that you don't want to mount yours to the windshield. The blend mount may be your best option. The visor mount would work too although I don't think it's low enough to be below the tined section at the top of the windshield. Maybe your polycarbonate windshield doesn't have that...

I picked up a Passport hardwire kit off Amazon for $20 and installed it here:

By mounting the detector that high, can you still easily reach the buttons to mute, change CTY/HWY settings, etc.? Also, I believe the windshield has a dark line of tint along the top 4-6". Would that weaken the range/effectiveness of the detector?

My V1 is on the driver visor using the visor clip supplied with the purchase of the V1, and I have a concealed display down where smm3 has it in his picture. Works.

If you are willing to take the suction cups off the valentine mount you may be able to shape (bend) it so that it fits inside the ceiling liner. May need to use some Velcro to get it to stay.
