SILVER Star
I installed these yesterday:
OEM Front Turn Signal Lights for Land Cruiser FJ60 - LH and RH
here they are installed:
First off I have an 87 fj60. So different models may fit better or worse. The lens and the plastic mold for the bulbs look correct. The screws are the same. The gasket is correct and the metal plate that supports the lens is correct. The white plastic body clips that accept the screws were too small to fit in the square hole in the headlight door. I re-used my old ones. The main obstacle was the plugs. The were slightly different. The molding on the outside was not an exact match. No studs molded into the sides to accept the flexible tabs on the female plug that is on the truck harness side. Also some rectangular shaped female receiver molded into the side for which there was no male piece on my harness. On the inside of the plug the two parallel metal blades in the plug are about 2 mm apart. But on the original plug they are more like 3.5 mm apart. I had to bend them apart and again forced the plug to get it to fit. The first time I installed it the ground didn't make good contact causing the turn signal to flash very quickly. After bending and widening the prongs they worked right.
Just replacing the lens would have been a nice upgrade but the plastic backing that holds the bulbs is painted shiny silver compared the dirty faded of my original ..it makes the lower lens look much whiter and brighter.
One question I have, I noticed the new assemblies come with clear (white) bulbs on the bottom running light. The one below the turn signal bulb. The guy that did my state inspection said DOT requires them to be amber. Is this true? When I changed to amber bulbs last time I used one that was large like a 1157 and because of how close it was to the lens it burned a white mark into the lens.
Here the old lens with white burn marks:
Here the different plugs:
