I can’t help with all of your questions, but wanted to point out Wiki is wrong. The R151F has been used since 1999 until today in HZJ7* and also since 2008 until today in VDJ76 models.
Never seen an R### behind a 1VD, do you know what market this is in?
1VD comes with a H-series transmission, namely H150 or H152, at least here anyway. (As did 1FZ, 2UZ, 1HD-# and some 1HZ)

I believe the ones sold to Ngo's and mining companies that get supplied by European dealers get the R151 behind the 1VD .

I have a R151 on my crawler with 40" stickies and actually prefer the R151 over the H55

Why not use a H55? Bell housing available and split case will attach

Bumping an older thread, I have an r151 out of a turbo mini truck, considering using it to do an engine swap in my 40, will any landcruiser t-cases bolt up and work behind the mini truck r151?

No. The output shaft and tailhousing are very different. You could swap those parts into your Turbo R151f, but you’d be WAY better off selling the turbo R151f for good money to someone who really wants it for their 4runner and just buying a brand new HZJ79 R151f which the split case will bolt right up too.
The input shaft and bellhousing bolt pattern are the same so any adapter you would use would work with the new transmission.
