Unfortunately there isn't enough material there to do that. The shoulder bolt runs all the way through the clamp and there is only 1/8" of material before you hit the shoulder bolt. Let me think on it some more...
I know this has been asked before, but where are you planning to mount this thing? I'd hate to mount this sturdy mount with something as flimsy as a piece of nylon rope.
If it had a dedicated spot and mounting holes already drilled I would be in for one.
Use NLXTACY's pin idea but place it parallel to the clamp hinge pin. Design the base plate and clamps so that the safety pin can be place in either of the four corners for max mounting options. That make sense from my description? I don't have any fancy CAD programs.
Good idea. To clarify what I think you're saying: design in a vertical pin hole on the back of each clamp that aligns with holes in the mount.
One would think. Personally without a pin my gut feeling is that it will be fine.
