I did a VIN search on a 75 FJ40 i'm going to look at today. The first title it shows in 1992 in Washington. Does that mean it's an import? Can't figure out why there isn't any previous title info.

Thanks all

Information on pre 81s with a seventeen digit VIN are hard to track. If it came from another state would require searching in that state if you knew what state. Mostly have to go by inspection on old ones. If you were real lucky and spend the time using previous title number you can track it back further. AZ list the previous title numbef (not VIN) on their titles.

VINs weren't standardized until the 80s. I could see that the VIN wasn't recorded until it was sold or registered in the 90s.

There were no computer records to speak of back in the 70s. tough to do a database search when nothing was in a database because they hadn't been invented yet.

Here is the one I'm looking at. Any red flags in here?
