Hi all,
I am putting in bucket seats from a pre '79 40 into my '83 AUS 40. I currently have the original bench- but opted to trade a MUD member for the buckets, easier entry for my dogs, good storage opportunity, etc, etc...

Anyway- I did a quick search and found nothing addressing the exact question. I'm looking for pictures of this solution.

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

I'm actually putting '79 buckets into my '72 right now. We're dealing with two very different tub/mount configurations, but the easiest solution is to retain the old brackets and risers, and bolt or weld the new seats to them with plate steel. If you want, you can find someone parting out a '79, and snag the risers and do a complete conversion, or buy new risers from Cruiser Solutions. Thanks Chuck...

Anyone else??? I know someone has done this before. Looking for custom made bracket pics or details for putting early model seats into a late model 40.

Thanks!

Why would anybody bother putting the non adjustable early seats in place of the adjustable later model seats?

If you're gonna bother fabbing mounts, maybe goto the JY and get some newer grey leather buckets from some similar toyota vehicle.

here is what I did not cruiser seats but might help

And this is what i did

You can make any seat fit ,the brackets are easy in the TLC to manufacture these are LEXUS seats 50 bucks each at the JY. Get something that at least moves back and forth.

I think one of the first replies to your post is the best advice.

Keep your sliders (thier bolt pattern already matches the floor bolt pattern)

Get a piece of steel plate, drill one set of holes in the steel plate to match the bolt pattern on top of your sliders (where the old seat mounted to the sliders), and and attach the plate to the sliders using those exsisting holes.

Now you have a big "blank slate" for attaching the seats to the plate. Mark a seperate set of holes in the steel plate that matches the hole pattern in the bottom of the new seats.

Drill the holes and attach the seat to the plate

Sliders can know be rebolted into the floor.
