Hey everyone. Looking for some advice. One owner 2015 GX 460 luxury with 240,000 miles. Southern car so no rust. This thing has every single service record documented through Lexus.

No documentation of the valley plate being addressed, nor any mention of the cam tower leaks. On the other hand, it’s had all fluids replaced every year 60,000 miles.

Private party, talked them down to $13.5K. Wondering if this is a fair price for this particular car? Any and all advice welcome. Thanks a ton.

If it passes a mechanic inspection with clean records, I would buy it.

Here is what my leaked looked like from my valley plate. And I was puking about a quart of oil every 5k from my timing cover. My skids caught it all and I didn't realize it.

@Hiluxforever - Wow … I didn’t remember your consumption on your timing cover leak. That is somewhat of outlier on the problem. Most just make an oil mess that doesn’t really show up as consumption on the dipstick. Was that making it to the ground? The smaller leaks just seem to make an engine mess and if anything makes it further gets caught in the skid plate.

EDIT: I see you said skids caught it. Just amazed it could hold that much. Assume oil change place wasn’t reporting it or did it let go all at once?

Some if it did. When it first started I thought i ddnt tighten the oil filter mechanism fully. No it was the timing cover.

Was doing my own oil changes, and I didn't catch it cause I thought the oil leak was my own fault.

This is part of why I have started doing more maintenance at the dealer. Like their cheap 80$ oil changes.

If I was losing a quart every oil change I’d get timing cover leak fixed too.

I’m always doing an inspection every couple weeks looking for timing & cam tower leaks and trace pink stains anywhere. I keep a close eye on the coolant recovery tank level too.

I do check the oil level too. Mine has never shown any oil use at 5k mile change intervals.

Essentially.. full body scan for fluid leak of any kind.. whether brake, diff,… heck washer fluid .. never know when a headlight washer line pops off :) :)

Be careful watching the coolant reservoir. Our systems breathe A LOT! A day after i scheduled my valley plate, because the reservoir was almost empty and I filled it to the mid line, it puked a bunch of coolant out because it didn't need it.

I am piling on the miles so will get to see how these thjngs do with more miles. I wheel regularly too and the rig is solid.

Put on 20k since November and 10k since March.

Sounds pretty tight! How's the exterior and interior? With that many miles the front seats start looking a little worse for wear?
Something I've always done, find a GOOD independent mechanic with very high Yelp rating ALONG with a lot of reviews and have him do a thorough inspection.
Every thing from engine compression, pulling wheels and checking suspension and brakes, to checking every light bulb. Yeah, it'll cost a c-bill or two, but the peace of mind will be priceless.
Let HIM tell you if it's a good deal.
What you have posted, tentatively does look good, but anyone can put lipstick on a pig.
Wish you the best on your purchase and if you do pull the trigger and get it, hope to see you on the forum!
